We’ll start with some simple exercises to cover basics like stitch control, tension issues, and machine settings; then discuss quilting aids and many tips and techniques.  Kit Fee: $14

Quilting Primer [or Open Sew] -   Adele Scott

The building blocks of a good quilter are those sometimes simple, sometimes more involved, but always important details that make your project come out just right.  For new quilters or those who’d like a review of the basics from fabric prep, rotary cutting issues, “The Perfect ¼” seam, piecing pointers, no-waste flying geese  the “oh so versatile” ½ square triangle, mock-mitered binding corners and the easy invisible binding join. Modern methods make the process so much easier. We’ll make a small project to practice our techniques. We’ll make three blocks and you will have several options [see below] to position them, then two borders around the center section.

Wed. Jan. 25 10-4                                  Class fee $10

Farmer’s Wife Sampler Quilt – Willie Fiedler
Construct 6 ½ block inspired from letters from 1920’s farmers wives explaining why their daughters should marry farmers.  This is another “stash buster” project.
Tues. Jan 31, Feb 28, Mar 27, Apr 24    2 – 5 fee $5

Fused Appliqué - Marie Spadaro

Scrappy Tuesday I – Carol Jones

The class is designed to use the maximum number of fabrics in simple designs so as to make them look complicated.  To take this class you only need to be able to sew a straight ¼ inch seam, there are no fancy set-in seams or complicated designs.  This class is designed to let you use the maximum amount of color in your quilts with the minimum amount of stress.  Must take Intro to Scrappy!  Returning students start

Tues. Feb 14, Mar 13, Apr 10      10 – 1   Class fee $15

Fun & Done! [or Open Sew]– Adele Scott

“Fun & Done!” is a quilt-as-you-go technique that is done entirely by machine.  The quilting is completed while you construct each block. Sew the blocks together, and you're done! Now that's fun! 18 patterns to choose from [some need to be special ordered]. Try a table runner to get your feet wet or dive right in to a bed size quilt.
Wed. Feb. 22     10 - 4                           Class fee $10

Scrappy Tuesday II – Carol Jones

Each month will be a new scrappy quilt that can be made either as a wall quilt or expanded into bed size. Blocks are easy to piece so the focus is on color and fabric. Here is a chance to use up those odds and ends of fabric that clutter up our lives so we won’t feel guilty buying more.

Prerequisite: Scrappy Tuesday I

This Bargello table runner is a breeze to make using a serger or sewing machine. The intricate looking piecing works up really fast and is very forgiving with no seams to match. The borders are sewn using the reversible quilting methods so that no additional quilting is needed to keep the layers together and its reversible! The binding is double fold with mock-mitered corners and a beautiful angled join.
